Global Punjabi icon Diljit Dosanjh brought his signature humor and energy to the streets of Germany this week as he prepares to kick off the highly anticipated European segment of his world tour.
Documenting his time in the German capital for millions of social media followers, the singer-actor explored major cultural landmarks while engaging with local fans. During his walk through central Berlin, Dosanjh broke into an impromptu bhangra performance on the public pavement alongside a companion, drawing amused glances from passersby and highlighting the global footprint of Punjabi pop culture.
A central highlight of his city tour was a visit to the historic Berlin Victory Column (Siegessäule), a 19th-century monument topped by a gilded statue of Victoria, the Roman goddess of victory. Dosanjh documented his climb up the site's famous 285-step spiral staircase—a physical feat that tested the performer's endurance.
Visibly out of breath mid-ascent, Dosanjh joked with his team in Punjabi, saying, "Paise de karke pareshani mol li" ("I paid money just to invite trouble upon myself").
Upon reaching the observation platform at the summit, the artist panned his camera toward the iconic golden sculpture, referencing the popular Bollywood track Baby Doll by jokingly calling the statue "Baby doll main sone di" ("I am a golden baby doll").
The candid interaction offers a glimpse into the personality that has helped Dosanjh transition from a regional music sensation to an international household name. His ability to blend traditional Punjabi folk influences with contemporary pop music has allowed him to headline sold-out arena shows across North America, Australia, and Europe.
Dosanjh’s current tour follows a string of career milestones in both music and cinema. Known for hit singles such as "G.O.A.T.," "Lover," "5 Taara," and "Born To Shine," he has consistently pushed Punjabi music into mainstream international markets.
Parallel to his music career, Dosanjh has established himself as a versatile actor. After dominating Punjabi cinema with blockbusters like Jatt & Juliet, Honsla Rakh, and Sajjan Singh Rangroot, he made a successful Hindi film debut in the 2016 drama Udta Punjab. His recent filmography includes critical and commercial successes such as Good Newwz, Crew, and Imtiaz Ali’s critically acclaimed 2024 biographical drama Amar Singh Chamkila, where he played the titular musical legend alongside Parineeti Chopra.
As stage preparations finalize in Berlin, Dosanjh's European tour dates are expected to draw massive crowds from the South Asian diaspora and international fans alike, continuing a historic run for Indian touring artists abroad.
