Diljit Dosanjh’s Satluj Pulled From Zee5, Honey Trehan Rejects Donations for Losses

The film ‘Satluj’ by Honey Trehan recently released on the platform Zee5, but soon it was pulled down. It is because the film featuring actor Diljit Dosanjh did not receive the approval from the Central Board of Film Certification as the producers did not make the necessary cuts required for the release. Now, it seems that an effort is on to collect funds for the monetary loss of the film.

On Friday, Honey Trehan shared a lengthy note on his Instagram, in which he recounted the love that 'Satluj' received when it was released on Zee5 on July 3rd. He said the film was an opportunity to honor the life of Jaswant Singh Khalra. The filmmaker continued, "We've been receiving numerous messages, calls, and tweets from people. People have reached out to us, the Khalra family, and Diljit Bhai, expressing their support. They want to contribute money to help compensate for the loss."

He further wrote, "We've also learned that piggy banks have been placed in Gurudwaras, where well-wishers are trying to help my producers recover from the losses of 'Satluj.' This is happening both in India and abroad. We thank you very much for this gesture." He added, "Your love and support are enough. With all due respect, we cannot accept any money, gifts, or donations for our film."

Honey said he and his producers have recognized that despite the financial loss, 'Satluj' will have a legacy of its own. He wrote, "The 'Satluj' team has nothing to do with the money collected by anyone in the name of the film or any service or charity."

When 'Satluj' was removed from Zee5 within 48 hours, an Information Ministry official told ANI, "Satluj did not have the necessary certification for theatrical release. Instead of following the certification process, the makers changed the title of the film and released it on the OTT platform."
