From Prakky B to National Award Winner: B Praak's Musical Journey

Long before "Ishq Ka Ghulaam," B Praak — born Pratik Bachan in Chandigarh — built his career from the ground up, starting not as a singer but as a music producer working under the name "Prakky B." The son of Punjabi music composer Varinder Bachan, he grew up steeped in music, and began composing for Punjabi artists including Diljit Dosanjh, Harrdy Sandhu and Ammy Virk before ever stepping in front of a microphone himself.

His breakthrough as a composer came in 2013, when "Soch" — sung by Harrdy Sandhu, produced by B Praak in collaboration with lyricist Jaani — became one of the biggest Punjabi hits of the year. That partnership with Jaani would go on to define much of his early career, producing a string of Punjabi hits including "Taara," "Backbone" and "Horn Blow."

The real turning point came in 2018, when B Praak stepped out from behind the console to release "Mann Bharrya" as his debut single as a singer — a song that introduced his distinctive, emotionally raw voice to a national audience and remains one of his most recognised tracks to date.

The Hit That Changed Everything: "Teri Mitti"

B Praak's entry into Hindi cinema came in 2019 with "Teri Mitti," a patriotic ballad from the Akshay Kumar-starrer "Kesari." The song didn't just become a chart favourite — it earned him the National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer, cementing his place among the industry's most respected voices.

From there, the hits kept coming: "Filhall," "Ranjha" from "Shershaah," "Baarish Ki Jaaye," "Filhaal 2 Mohabbat" and "Pachtaoge" each added to a discography that has made B Praak one of the most consistently streamed singers in contemporary Bollywood, with individual tracks amassing hundreds of millions of plays. Earlier this year, he also took his music on the road with his live tour "Sounds of Hari," performing across Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Mumbai and New Delhi.

"Ishq Ka Ghulaam" now becomes the latest addition to that catalogue — a return to the heartbreak-and-hope territory that first made B Praak's voice a household name.

About "Prem Keetanu"

The film features seven songs in total, bringing together singers including Sachet Tandon, Parampara Tandon, B Praak, Armaan Malik, Papon, Jubin Nautiyal, Madhur Sharma, Altamash Faridi, Shashi Suman and Brijesh Shandilya, along with rappers Little Bhatia and Mazemusicc.

Directed by Apoorv Singh Karki and produced by Gaurav Verma under his banner Avanika Films — his first production under the label — the film is co-presented with Phars Films in association with Bhavana Studios. A Hindi remake of the Malayalam hit "Premalu," "Prem Keetanu" stars Veer Pahariya, Aafiya Sayed, Aparshakti Khurana, Rakesh Bedi and Nikhil Vijay, and follows a group of young men navigating friendship, first love, one-sided love and the heartbreaks that come with growing up.

"Prem Keetanu" is set for a worldwide theatrical release on October 2, 2026.
