First Miss India Meher Castelino Passes Away: Sad news has emerged of the passing of India's first Miss India, Meher Castelino. In addition to being the first Miss India, she was also a renowned fashion journalist.
Meher Castelino, who was the first Miss India and the first fashion journalist in the country, breathed her last aged 81 years. Her death was conveyed by the Femina Miss India Organization via social media.
Meher Castelino emerged as the first Femina Miss India in 1964. Later on, she started writing articles related to fashion and made a career out of them. She got her articles published in many international magazines. Meher also conducted many interviews of international fashion designers and shared fashion trends across the world with Indians. In 2006, she also worked as a fashion writer in Lakme Fashion Week.
Femina India remembered Meher Castelino by sharing several posts on its Instagram page. He writes in his post, "Meher Castelino has traveled from India's first Femina Miss India in 1964 to supermodel, journalist, writer, and mentor. She has made a significant contribution to advancing Indian fashion. Meher Castelino paved the way for generations to come. Her legacy will endure."
