Vishnu Vishal expresses gratitude to fans as Gatta Kusthi 2 completes a successful 50-day theatrical run.
CHENNAI — Actor-producer Vishnu Vishal issued a formal message of appreciation to audiences and cinema operators across Tamil Nadu as his sports-comedy sequel, Gatta Kusthi 2, reached its 50th consecutive day in theatrical release.
Directed by long-time collaborator Chella Ayyavu and co-starring Aishwarya Lekshmi, the feature debuted in cinemas worldwide on July 3, positioning itself as a broad-appeal family comedy. The film's extended theatrical run reflects sustained audience turnout through rural and urban distribution circuits.
Reflecting on the box office milestone via his social media channels, Vishal framed the success as both a commercial achievement and a mandate for future project selection.
"Fifty days of #GattaKusthi2 — grateful and thankful to each and every one of you," Vishal stated. "This film was started with one simple intention: to carry forward the tradition of wholesome family entertainers, and I'm so happy to see how the audiences have lapped it up. The love I have received is something that cannot be measured. More than anything, this journey has made me realise the responsibility that comes with your trust, and I need to be more careful moving forward."
The success of the project also marked a personal milestone in the professional relationship between the lead actor and director Chella Ayyavu, who have worked together across various capacities over eleven years. To commemorate the film's theatrical achievement, Vishal personally gifted a new Toyota vehicle to Ayyavu during a team celebration in Chennai.
"For the last 11 years, you've stood by me through every high, every low, and everything in between," Vishal remarked during the key-handover presentation. "Your loyalty, belief, and friendship have meant more than words can ever express."
The film’s commercial reception earned praise across industry circles, receiving public endorsements from veteran actor Rajinikanth following a private screening. Following the film's performance, the production house also presented Vishal with a BMW 3 Series sedan to mark the commercial success of the franchise.
