Telugu film workers strike ends, agreement reached with producers on salary hike
Telugu film Workers Strike: For the last two weeks, the work of the Telugu film industry was being badly affected because the workers associated with the film industry were on strike. Now their strike is over. Telugu film workers have taken this decision after reaching an agreement with the film producers.
On Thursday, workers of Telugu films called off their strike, this strike was called off on the promise of salary increase. Other than this, some of the other demands of workers have also been accepted. The strike was called off after an agreement was made with the producers. This agreement was reached in the presence of officials of the State Labor Department.
Senior Labor Department official Gangadhar told PTI that the Workers Federation had demanded a 30 percent salary hike in the last three years. However, no solution was found in the earlier talks, after which the department had to intervene in this matter. Ultimately both the parties have agreed on a 22.5 percent salary hike.
Gangadhar also said that the hike of 15 percent, 2.5 percent and 5 percent for the last three years will be implemented for low-paid workers.
The Telugu film workers' strike began on August 4, due to which the shooting of many films came to a halt. The workers were demanding a 10 percent salary hike every year, which was to happen this year as well. But there has been no hike in salary for the last four months. Telugu film workers leader Alexander had earlier said that their demand is not a one-time hike of 30 percent, but a 10 percent hike every year.
On the other hand, Telugu Film Chamber secretary Damodar Prasad had said that the workers have taken a unilateral decision. They are only working for those producers who were paying increased salaries, while talks were going on on this issue. Damodar Prasad also said that the Telugu film industry already pays more to workers than other states.
