Actor Anupam Kher shared an interesting story related to his childhood in Goa at the 55th International Film Festival of India. When his father explained to him the importance of celebrating failures in life, he said that his father had gone to get food and coffee. Then he learned about his son's failure in the board exam.
Anupam Kher said we went to a restaurant named Alpha. It was quite famous. We used to go to some special places once or twice. I had taken the 10th exam in those days. I was promoted to class 11th because at that time, the school did not wait for the results and if you did not pass later, they would transfer you back to class 10th. My father came to school once and surprised me. He took me to the restaurant. I was wondering why he brought me to this place.
He ordered regular coffee and food for us during that time. Anupam Kher said that his father also talked to him about staying strong despite adversity. He said his upbringing helped him deal with such difficult situations in life.
Anupam Kher said that his grandfather sent a letter when he almost left Mumbai during his struggling days. The letter read a wet man is not afraid of rain. He advised me to move forward in life and never be afraid. Family support is also necessary to move forward in life.
