BMC sends notice to Mithun Chakraborty, the matter is related to illegal construction

BMC sent a show cause notice to veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty. The actor has been served a notice by BMC for alleged illegal construction. The actor has been instructed to justify the construction in a period of seven days from May 10, as per a report in the Free Press Journal.

Mithun Chakraborty received this notice for presumably conducting illegal construction in a plot in Malad's Erangal village. The civic body has threatened in case of an unsatisfactory explanation that it will demolish the building at the owner's risk and initiate action in a legal manner as well. This action has been taken by BMC as part of a widespread drive against illegal construction in the Madh area.

Officials have identified 101 illegal constructions in the area. According to the report, BMC sources said that a recent inspection near the Heera Devi temple revealed that two multiple mezzanine storey buildings, a ground floor structure and three temporary units were made of bricks, wood, glass and AC sheets. These were allegedly constructed without proper authorisation from the concerned authorities.

According to media reports, an official said that violations under section 475A of the MMC Act can lead to a fine and even imprisonment. The official said, "These structures were constructed without the approval of the competent authority. Hence, notices have been issued." Responding to the allegations, actor Mithun Chakraborty denied the claims. In a statement reported by the portal, he said, "I have no illegal construction. Notices have been sent to many people and we are sending our replies."
