Popular actor Deb Mukherjee succumbed to death on Friday (March 14) at the age of 83. He was ill for the last few months and was suffering from age-related problems. He was the father to famous director Ayan Mukherjee and father-in-law to Ashutosh Gowariker.
The last rites for Deb Mukherjee will be conducted at the Pawan Hans crematorium in Juhu, Mumbai at 4 o'clock this afternoon. Some big Bollywood celebrities can be expected to arrive to bid him adieu.
Not only was Deb Mukherjee an actor but also played a major role in organizing the North Bombay Durga Puja. It is the famous Durga Puja festival in Mumbai, for which celebrities such as Kajol, Rani Mukherjee, Rupali Ganguly, and Tanisha visit annually.
