Shraddha Kapoor’s ‘Eetha’ Release Pushed to Dec 4
Makers of Shraddha Kapoor-starrer ‘Eetha’ announce December 4, 2026 theatrical release for the biographical drama.
Mumbai, August 11 — The upcoming film Eetha, starring Shraddha Kapoor in the titular role, is set to debut in cinemas on December 4, 2026.
The makers of the film announced the release date on Tuesday. The cast also includes Randeep Hooda, Nana Patekar and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub. It is directed by Laxman Utekar.
Eetha is a biographical drama based on the life of Vithabai Narayangaonkar, one of Maharashtra’s most celebrated Tamasha and Lavani performers. The story traces her journey from humble beginnings in the folk-performance tradition to becoming a cultural icon, while exploring the hardships, resilience and sacrifices behind her artistic success.
The film holds particular significance for bringing the largely underrepresented world of Maharashtra’s traditional folk theatre to mainstream Hindi cinema. Its teaser has drawn attention for Kapoor’s transformation and the period setting. Music is composed by Ajay-Atul.
Produced by Dinesh Vijan, Laxman Utekar and Karishma Sharma, the project marks Shraddha Kapoor’s third collaboration with Vijan after Stree and Stree 2. While the first part of the Stree franchise was a surprise hit, the sequel emerged as a blockbuster and further cemented the actress’s position as a bankable female star.
Set against Indian folklore, the Stree films blend supernatural elements with humour, social commentary and memorable characters. Their success helped establish a larger cinematic universe that includes Bhediya, Munjya and other supernatural stories. Eetha, however, stands apart as a biographical drama and ranks among Kapoor’s more anticipated upcoming projects.
The film is produced by Maddock Films and Kathputli Creations.
