The lyrics have been penned by Shyam Raj Dutta, while the music has been composed by Rajib–Mona. Producer Kaushal Choudhary and members of the creative team were present during the recording of the devotional song.
Talking about the bhajan, Sadhana Sargam says, “There is a unique sweetness and spiritual peace in Krishna bhakti. ‘Aan Baso Mere Man Darpan Mein’ is a deeply emotional bhajan that expresses a devotee’s prayer to Lord Krishna to purify the mind and reside within the heart. I am happy to bring this devotional emotion to listeners through my voice during Janmashtami. I have tried to sing it with complete devotion and sincerity so that listeners can also connect with its spiritual essence.”
Producer Kaushal Choudhary says, “Janmashtami is not just a festival; it is also an opportunity to remember the timeless messages of Lord Krishna — love, compassion, righteousness and wisdom. ‘Aan Baso Mere Man Darpan Mein’ reflects these emotions beautifully. Having the legendary Sadhana Sargam ji lend her voice to this bhajan has added a special depth and spiritual quality to the song. Our endeavour is to take this devotional offering to Krishna devotees across the country and create a feeling of peace and devotion during Janmashtami.”
A Message of Devotion, Self-Realisation and Surrender
The lyrics of ‘Aan Baso Mere Man Darpan Mein’ explore the spiritual bond between a devotee and Lord Krishna. The first verse reflects the feeling of constant remembrance of Krishna and the search for inner wisdom. The devotee wishes to remain immersed in Krishna’s thoughts day and night, allowing the light of knowledge to awaken within and guiding the mind towards spiritual liberation.
The second verse turns towards inner purification. The devotee prays for anger, deceit and dishonesty to leave the mind and expresses a desire to follow the path of sacrifice and surrender. It conveys the feeling of dedicating one’s life completely to Lord Krishna.
At its heart, the bhajan carries a message of purification, letting go of negativity and complete surrender to Lord Krishna. Through its simple yet soulful words, the song encourages listeners to look within and embrace love, compassion, righteousness and wisdom in their lives.
