Mithun Chakraborty was famous from his first film, won National Film Award for acting

Mithun Chakraborty, a veteran actor, will receive the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for his contributions to Indian cinema. The actor will be honoured at the 70th National Film Awards ceremony on October 8. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav announced this in a post on X.

Mithun Chakraborty is one of Hindi cinema's most popular stars. He was born in Dimla, West Bengal. He earned a bachelor's degree (BSc) in chemistry from Nilphamari Government College. Following that, he attended the Film and Television Institute of India, where he learnt the nuances of acting.

Mithun's wife's name is Yogita Bali. She has acted in films. Mithun is the father of three sons and a daughter. The eldest son Mimoh Chakraborty has appeared in many Bollywood films. He made his debut with the 2008 film Jimmy. Mimoh's performance in Haunted 3D was well received by the people.

Mithun's acting career began in 1976 with the film Mrigayaa, directed by Mrinal Sen. He received the prestigious National Film Award for Best Actor for his debut film. After his debut, he played supporting roles in films such as Do Anjaane and Phool Khile Hain Gulshan Gulshan, but received no recognition. With the film Disco Dancer, he gained national and international popularity. In 2022, he appeared in The Kashmir Files, which was a box-office hit.

Aside from film, he has worked his magic on television. He has appeared as a judge on the TV reality show Dance India Dance. His style in this show was well liked by the audience.
