Superstar Vijay lashed out at the central government over the Waqf Bill, said - it should be withdrawn immediately
Vijay on Waqf Bill: Tamil film superstar and politician Vijay lashed out at the central government over the Waqf Bill. He even demanded the immediate withdrawal of this bill.

Tamil superstar and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay has referred to the Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2025 as anti-democracy. On Thursday, he called for this bill to be withdrawn. Vijay stated that if the center doesn't listen to him, then his party will also step into the legal battle over Waqf rights with the Muslim community.
Vijay said in his statement that this bill raises questions on the Constitution and the secular democratic foundation of India. He accused the BJP government of doing anti-Muslim politics. Vijay believes that this bill promotes majoritarian and divisive thinking. He questioned, "Is this bill not a psychological attack on Muslims?" At the same time, he also rejected the arguments given in support of BJP.
The TVK leader appealed to the Centre to listen to the voice of all democratic forces and immediately withdraw this bill. He warned that if the BJP government does not do so, TVK will stand with the Muslim brothers. The party will also take part in the legal battle for their Waqf rights.
The governments of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka have also passed resolutions against this bill. TVK had recently raised the demand to withdraw the bill in its General Council meeting. The bill was passed in the Lok Sabha early Thursday by 232 votes against 288. The NDA called it in the interest of minorities, while the opposition opposed it calling it anti-Muslim. Now this bill is up for discussion in the Rajya Sabha. It is being debated on April 3. It is believed that it can be passed there too.
