Mumbai: As the period drama ‘Ranabaali’ continues to draw appreciation, actress Rashmika Mandanna has penned an emotional note celebrating the film, her character, and most notably, her husband Vijay Deverakonda.
In a social media post, Rashmika addressed Vijay directly and made her admiration clear.
“@thedeverakonda - I told you and I keep telling you that I am a fan and I will forever be a fan of your work.. today seeing everyone appreciate you and your hard work (which you always do) and your work brings me one great sense of joy and peace and happiness.. my heart is happy happy for you!” she wrote.
What Jayamma Taught Her
Rashmika plays Jayamma in the film and said the character changed how she sees womanhood.
“Jayamma !! A woman whose love is so pure!! She spoke to me about what being a woman is truly about. Standing up for her people, protecting her people loving her people with all she has (sic),” she wrote.
The ‘Animal’ actress also explained the heart of the story: “There is so much love pouring in for Ranabaali and Jayamma, and I feel so overwhelmed and happy. The film speaks about the strength we have as a community, our belief in God, our strength to celebrate the little things even in the darkest of times, and how we all stand as one when someone from outside tries to intervene.. we don’t just stand and watch - we fight, and that’s what Ranabaali is about! We all fighting together for the same cause!”
A Salute to Rahul Sankrityan
The ‘Pushpa’ actress reserved special praise for director Rahul Sankrityan, calling him “one of the most BEAUTIFUL storytellers we have in our country today”.
“I really hope his storytelling is always and always protected.. and I truly am glad he’s seeing all of his hard work being appreciated by you loveliest people,” she added.
Thanking the entire team, Rashmika wrote, “The whole team has come together so beautifully to complete this film together!! Thankyou to each and every one of you who’s made this film what it is today!” She signed off with, “With all my love, Your Jayamma!”
Why It Matters
Rashmika and Vijay have long been one of South Indian cinema’s most popular on-screen pairings, with films like ‘Geetha Govindam’ and ‘Dear Comrade’ building a loyal fan base. Her public note turns the success of ‘Ranabaali’ into a personal milestone for the couple, and gives fans a rare, unfiltered look at how they support each other’s work.
Industry Impact
Rashmika’s words for Rahul Sankrityan also carry weight. The director, who earlier worked with Vijay on ‘Taxiwaala’, is now being backed publicly by one of the industry’s biggest pan-India stars. Her call to protect his storytelling reflects a wider conversation about giving filmmakers creative freedom.
Audience Sentiment
The note’s mix of pride, gratitude and emotion is the kind of personal touch that strengthens a film’s word-of-mouth, especially for a story built on themes of community and unity.
With Rashmika calling herself Vijay’s fan “forever”, ‘Ranabaali’ has become more than a film release; it is a shared celebration for the couple and their audience.
