'Jana Nayagan' case reaches Supreme Court, producer challenges Madras High Court order

The matter of Vijay's movie 'Jana Nayagan' is now in front of the Supreme Court. The film's producer has challenged an order passed by the Madras High Court temporarily. On January 9th, the Madras High Court has stayed an order passed by a single judge to obtain an immediate censor certificate for 'Jana Nayagan' from the CBFC. This is why there was no release for actor-turned-politician Vijay's movie.

KVN Productions has filed an appeal against the order passed by the division bench of the High Court last Friday. The stay has been granted on the order passed by the single judge to issue the Board's certificate for the film immediately. The order passed by the division bench of the High Court on January 9th came just hours after Justice P.T.Asha directed the CBFC to grant clearance to "Jana Nayakan." She also revoked the order to send the film to the Revising Committee.

According to the producer, he received a letter from the CBFC on January 6th, stating that the film had been sent to the Revising Committee. The single judge quashed that letter and ordered the film to be issued a certificate immediately. The Madras High Court, in its order, stated that the petition was filed on January 6th, and the CBFC was not given a chance to file its response. The Madras High Court stated that the petition would remain stayed and scheduled the next hearing for January 21st.

Actor Vijay recently launched his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). "Jana Nayakan" is being promoted as Vijay's last film before entering politics. The film was scheduled to release on Pongal, January 9th. However, the film was delayed due to the CBFC failing to issue certification on time.
