Salman Khan of Bollywood films finds himself entangled in yet another legal controversy. The Goa bench of the Bombay High Court has issued notices in a public interest litigation regarding a housing scheme in Candolim, Goa, that includes him. In the petition it is claimed that villas have been constructed close to a protected environmental zone.

The Calangute Constituency Forum has brought the case before the court and challenged the legality of the construction. It claims that villas along with all the other facilities, have been constructed in the environmentally sensitive coastal area where no construction is permissible.

According to Dainik Gomantak, the petition alleges that Classic City Investments Private Limited, a company linked to Salman Khan, constructed villas and a swimming pool approximately 55 meters from the high tide line of the Sinquerim River. It also alleges that the "Matrubhoomi" actor is the managing partner of the company involved in the project.

The petition also states that the construction deviated from the approved building plan. It also challenges the occupancy certificate issued by the Candolim Gram Panchayat on April 30, 2025, citing deficiencies in the certificate's approval.

Several government agencies have also been named as respondents in the petition. These reportedly include the Goa government, the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority, the Candolim Gram Panchayat, the Ministry of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change, as well as Salman Khan and company.

The petitioner has asked the court to determine whether environmental regulations were followed before approving the project. The Goa bench of the Bombay High Court has reportedly taken cognizance of the petition and issued notices to all respondents to file their responses. Further responses will be heard in the case.
