Kamal Haasan, Thug Life in Karnataka: Difficulties seem to be increasing regarding the release of Kamal Haasan's starrer film 'Thug Life' in Karnataka. The Supreme Court has refused to hear the petition seeking the protection of cinema halls immediately.

Tamil actor Kamal Haasan's movie 'Thug Life' was not reaching Karnataka due to controversies. Nevertheless, on its release, its demand was made, for which the owners of movie theaters received numerous threats. As a result, a plea for the protection of movie theaters was made in the Supreme Court, for which the Supreme Court has declined an immediate hearing.
Due to the controversy over Kamal Haasan starrer 'Thug Life', the Karnataka Theatre Association had filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking protection. During its hearing, a bench of Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra and Justice Manmohan asked the Theatre Association of Karnataka to approach the Karnataka High Court. Apart from this, Justice Prashant Mishra refused to hear the case immediately and said that fire extinguishers should be installed in the theatres and asked the petitioner to go to the High Court.
Actor Kamal Haasan had made a controversial comment on the Kannada language during the promotion of his film 'Thug Life', after which he was opposed a lot and there was a demand to not release his film in Karnataka. In view of this, Kamal Haasan's film 'Thug Life' was released on June 5 everywhere except Karnataka. Since then, theatres located in Karnataka are receiving threats. A lawyer who filed a petition on behalf of the Theatre Association said that some groups opposing the screening of the film are giving open threats and saying that theatres will be set on fire. A petition was filed in the Supreme Court regarding this.
