Recently, the film 'Puratawn' by the actress Rituparna Sengupta and Sharmila Tagore has won two prestigious awards. With this, another achievement has been added to Rituparna's name. Rituparna was awarded 'Best Actress' and 'Best Film' at the 'DC South Asian Film Festival'.

For this success, Rituparna and Sharmila Tagore were then jointly invited for a special screening at the 'India International Film Festival of Boston', where the Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Ms Sharmila Tagore. On the occasion, Saba Ali Khan Pataudi's daughter of Sharmila Tagore was also present in the function, where three of them discussed a lot of things together.

Yesteryear actress Sharmila Tagore is returning to Bengali cinema after a gap of 14 years. The actress is starring opposite Rituparna Sengupta, in the Bengali film 'Puratawn' directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Suman Ghosh. The film is based on deep emotional themes, revolving around the touching relationship that exists between mother and daughter. The film is being made under Rituparna's banner 'Bhavana Aaj O Kal'. 'Puratawn' is a film in which three National Award winners Rituparna, Sharmila and Suman are working together.

Talking about this achievement, an emotional Rituparna shared, 'I am overwhelmed with the response the film is getting, I am very grateful to receive this prestigious award along with a veteran actress like Sharmila Tagore. It was a great honour for me to be a part of this film, especially to work with Sharmila ji and to be recognised for my contribution. I learnt so much from her during the shoot and cherished every moment of working together. Not only professionally but we also share a great personal bond. She is and will always be my favourite.'

Rituparna Sengupta's much-awaited film 'Puratawn' is being screened at various international markets, including the European Film Market. It will soon be released across India and worldwide. The film has also been selected for the MAMI Mumbai Film Festival under the Special Gala Screening category.
