Actress Sanaya Irani is a big name in the world of small screen. After TV, she also tried to make a place in Bollywood and South film industry but her experience was not good. In a recent interview, Sanaya Irani talked about the problems faced while working in films.
Famous TV actress Sanaya Irani made a household name with TV shows like 'Mile Jab Hum Tum' and 'Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon'. However, her experience in Bollywood was bitter, about which the actress spoke openly in her recent interview.
Sanaya Irani told how she was pressured to wear a bikini to give her a role in a film with a big hero.
Sanaya Irani recalled an incident in an interview with Hotterfly when she was asked to wear a bikini, as many big actors were involved in that project. She also said that she was often shamed for being thin.
Sanaya Irani was asked in the interview if she had faced the casting couch. Recalling an incident that happened with her in the South, she said, "Long ago, a person from the South wanted to meet me for a film. At that time, I did not want to do films, but, he was desperate to meet me. So I just went and after the meeting, he said that 'we need an actress with a slightly fuller body.' To this, I said that 'then I am not like that. Many times, I feel that people meet girls in the industry so that they can know whether she has slept with someone or not."
Talking about Bollywood, Sanaya recalled another incident when she was asked to call a Bollywood director. The actress said that there was a lot of misunderstanding about that project, as she was told that she was auditioning for a music video, but it was a film. Sanaya Irani finally agreed to call him and when she did, she was told to call him later as he was in a meeting.
After calling him again, during the conversation, Sanaya Irani felt that the director was being rude towards her and she was in no mood to tolerate it. When the actress asked him clearly about the reason for the call, the director said, "I am making a big film, there are many big heroes in it and you have to wear a bikini. To this I said, 'What is my role?' So he said, 'Do you have no problem wearing a bikini?' He was being a little rude to me and I hung up."
