418 The Film Trailer: Chaithra Achar’s Horror Opens Oct 23

Where the Story Began

The first trailer opened with a watchman saying that no bird had entered a haunted house, a quiet but eerie hint at something unnatural. It introduced Vivek, an 18-year-old who can sense strange happenings but struggles to convince others, who believe he is imagining things.

Story

The mystery grows when the VIMS building, sealed for 15 years, is reopened despite local protests. Room No. 418 hides a terrifying secret, and the real chills start with the arrival of a character named Devika. What began like a psychological thriller soon turned into full-blown supernatural horror.

Betting on Pure Horror

According to sources, the film aims to scare through fear, suspense and psychological tension rather than comedy. That makes it stand out at a time when horror-comedies have dominated Indian box offices. Mythri had made the same point while announcing an earlier delay: “Enough of laughing at horror movies. Now, it’s time to be scared.”

A Journey of Delays

The film was originally set to release on July 31. It was then pushed to September 18 and finally to October 23. At the time of the first delay, the makers said, “The dreaded door will open a little later... We promise to give all your love back in the form of fear. It will be worth the wait.”

Cast and Crew

Backed by Naveen Yerneni and Yalamanchili Ravi Shankar, the film stars Chaithra Achar, Surya Raj, Charan Lakkaraju, Preethi Pagadala and Shashank Patil. Kirtan Nadagouda, who makes his directorial debut, has also written the story. Dinesh Divakar handles cinematography, Venky GG has composed the music, and Ullas Hydoor is the production designer.

Industry Impact

With Prashanth Neel’s name and Mythri’s backing, ‘418’ has the reach of a big pan-India project, rare for a straight horror film led by a relatively new cast. If it works, it could open doors for more serious horror films across languages.

What Comes Next

‘418 The Film’ arrives in theatres on October 23, 2026, in Telugu, Hindi, Kannada and Tamil.
