Varun Dhawan lost the action film due to budget; Producer had refused
Varun Dhawan: Varun Dhawan talked about casting himself in action films during the trailer launch event of 'Citadel: Honey Bunny'. He said that only South Indians were recognizing his potential in the action genre.

In Varun Dhawan's upcoming films, you'll be seeing him in an action avatar. Recently, the trailer of the film 'Citadel: Honey Bunny' has been released. While the trailer launched, Varun said that due to budget issues filmmaker Aditya Chopra refused to cast him in the film. He also added that only South Indians were recognizing his potential in the action genre.
Varun Dhawan said during the trailer launch event, 'Right now, I think only South Indians are noticing me and giving me great opportunities in action.' Varun is working with Raj & DK and actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu in 'Citadel: Honey Bunny', after which he will gear up for 'Baby John' with Atlee and Keerthy Suresh. Varun Dhawan hopes that others in the industry will also notice him.
Varun, during the interaction, said that he was in constant touch with Aditya Chopra and he told him, 'I can't do this because I can't give you that budget right now. You are not in a position to give you such a big budget.' The actor further said that he messaged Chopra and asked what the budget was? Varun said that in response, he received a figure that would be needed to make a big action film.
He extended his thanks to Amazon and Raj & DK for the opportunity in 'Citadel: Honey Bunny'. The film will be released on November 7 on Amazon Prime Video.
