In this emotional post, Vikrant wrote, 'My heart is broken for the families and close ones of the people who lost their lives in the unthinkable, tragic accident that happened in Ahmedabad today. It is even more sad to know that my uncle Clifford Kunder lost his son Clive Kunder, who was unfortunately the first officer working on the flight. May God give you and your family and all those affected the strength to bear this loss.'
Captain Sumit was commanding the Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner plane (AI171). Vikrant Massey's brother Clive Kunder, who was the co-pilot, was assisting Sumit. Clive Kunder had 1100 hours of flying experience.

Of these, 169 are Indian citizens, 53 British citizens, seven Portuguese and one Canadian citizen.
