Akshay Kumar Recalls Emotional Moment When Parents Missed His First Stage Show
Akshay Kumar: After becoming famous, Akshay Kumar gave his first stage performance in Punjab. But did you know that his parents weren't even allowed inside the hall? Find out the reason?
Akshay Kumar was an overnight sensation, courtesy movies like "Main Khiladi Tu Anari" and "Mohra." During this period, he delivered his first stage show, inviting his parents to attend it. However, they were unable to see the first live performance of their son, causing Akshay considerable embarrassment.
Akshay Kumar, recalling an incident in an episode of his reality show, "Wheel of Fortune," explained that it was during Akshay's first major stage performance in Punjab around the time of the film "Mohra." He invited his parents to watch the show. Initially, he suggested they sit in the back, but his parents insisted on sitting in the front. Akshay then got them tickets. But despite this, he couldn't see the show.
At that time, there was a 'first-come, first-served' rule in Punjab. When Akshay's parents arrived, the hall was already full. The guard didn't let them in, even after checking their tickets. When his father told the guard that his son was performing inside, the guard assumed they were drunk. Consequently, they couldn't enter and went back home. Akshay was dancing on stage at the time, but they couldn't see him anywhere. Mobile phones didn't exist at the time, so they couldn't contact him. This deeply embarrassed Akshay.
Akshay named his production house Hari Om Entertainment in memory of his late father, Hari Om Bhatia. His father died of prostate cancer in 2000. Akshay also started the Hari Om Cancer Shelter for police personnel in his memory. His mother, Aruna Bhatia, passed away in 2021 due to age-related ailments.
