‘Asked to Dress a Certain Way’: Taapsee Opens Up on South Film Industry
Taapsee Pannu Talks About South Cinema: Recently, Taapsee Pannu's film "Assi" was released in theaters. During the film's promotion, the actress shared her thoughts on many issues. In addition to Bollywood, Taapsee faced a specific challenge when working in South Indian films. She discussed this in detail in a recent interview.
Taapsee Pannu has also acted in Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam movies. In a recent interview, the actress talked about the strange demands made by South Indian filmmakers. Taapsee thinks that this led to awkward situations. What were those strange demands?
Taapsee Pannu, in a recent interview with actor Shubhankar Mishra's podcast, revealed that South Indian films focus a lot on how an actress looks. She said, "In South Indian films, they are asked to wear certain clothes to look attractive." But the problem is that there are only a handful of women on set to tell the heroine this. In such a situation, the director tells the assistant director, who then tells a sister from the hair or styling team. Imagine how embarrassing it would be if an actress had to get up and leave mid-song on set. Everyone is watching, wondering what the difference is. Then it turns out we can't even tell. In such a situation, the actresses are asked to leave.
Taapsee believes that in South India, the focus is on the actress's physical appearance. The makers feel that this fulfills the audience's fantasies and increases the attraction to the film.
