AR Rahman Says Messages Get ‘Distorted Midway’ Amid Hindi Film Industry Row

The musician recently made news when he stated that the Hindi film industry had become "communal" recently. He later stated that his statement had been misconstrued. He now states that any message is open to change.
AR Rahman appeared on a new episode of "The Great Indian Kapil Show." Here, he said, "It's interesting to see how information is misinterpreted. Different states and different cultures have an impact. The problem with the world is that any message gets distorted midway."
AR Rahman appeared on the show to discuss his new film, "Gandhi Talks." Directed by Kishore Belekar, the film stars Vijay Sethupathi and Aditi Rao Hydari in pivotal roles. Speaking about the film, the composer said that working on a film without dialogue was both liberating and challenging. He said, "If a film doesn't have sound, it's a celebration for music. You have a lot of opportunities to create music. However, it's also frustrating that people will judge you."
AR Rahman recently revealed in an interview with BBC Asian Network that he has received less work in the Hindi film industry over the past eight years. Explaining the reason, he said, "Perhaps there's been a power shift in the last eight years. Now, power is held by people who aren't creative. It could be a communal thing... but it hasn't happened to me." His statement sparked reactions from several celebrities, and Rahman subsequently issued a clarification.
