‘There Was Silence for 7 Minutes’: Daisy Shah Recalls Turning Down Salman Khan Film
Daisy Shah: Daisy Shah has made a major revelation about a Salman Khan film. Find out which Salman Khan film she turned down before 'Jai Ho'...
Daisy Shah entered the Hindi film industry with Jai Ho, along with Salman Khan. This film received both negative and positive reviews from the critics. Prior to working with Salman Khan, Daisy Shah had rejected a chance to work with him.
Speaking to Bollywood Bubble, Daisy Shah revealed that before working with Salman Khan in 'Jai Ho,' she had turned down an offer for Salman Khan's film 'Bodyguard.' Now she has revealed Salman's reaction after she turned down the offer. She said, "After I did this, there was silence in the room for about five to seven minutes."
Five to seven minutes is a very long time. It felt incredibly long at the time. It feels incredibly long even now in a situation like this. I was internally chanting, "Say something, say something." And only one word came out of his mouth. He said, "Okay."
During the conversation, when Daisy was asked if Salman Khan was upset after she refused, Daisy said, "Maybe he was just trying to understand the situation. He's human, isn't he? He must be trying to figure things out. He's just like that."
I think he's one of the most caring people, whether on set, in his personal life, or in any situation. If you're in touch with him, he'll take care of you no matter what."
However, she explained that doing so created a bit of a stressful situation. She had to struggle to talk to Salman. The actress admitted that she mentally prepared herself for several days before speaking to Salman Khan.
Daisy explained that she had to stand in front of the mirror for a week, preparing herself. It took all my courage to say what she had to say.
The actress explained that she has a habit of replaying conversations over and over again and thinking about how she could have responded differently. "After any conversation, I analyze it, 'Oh shit, I should have answered this way. I should have said this way.' So, I do a lot of after-thought. I don't do any pre-thinking."
Before becoming an actress, Daisy Shah was an assistant to choreographer Ganesh Acharya. She then entered the South Indian industry and appeared in several songs. It was after this that Salman Khan approached her for "Bodyguard," but she declined.
After Daisy's refusal, Hazel Keech played the role in the film. About a year and a half later, Salman contacted Daisy again and asked her to audition for "Jai Ho." She eventually bagged the role and made her Bollywood debut with the film in 2014.
