Amitabh Bachchan Begins Shoot for New KBC Season
Amitabh Bachchan has completed pre-production for the new season of Kaun Banega Crorepati and said the test phase has now begun.
Mumbai, July 30 — Amitabh Bachchan has completed the pre-production phase of the upcoming season of Kaun Banega Crorepati and indicated that principal work on the show is now under way.
In a blog post, the actor first acknowledged the large number of Guru Purnima greetings he received from fans. “To all that have, through their extreme generosity, expressed their greeting on the auspicious Guru Purnima, I reciprocate them with gratitude and love,” he wrote. He added in Hindi that the volume of messages made it difficult to reply to each one and sought forgiveness for any delay.
Turning to the programme, Bachchan shared photographs from the sets and stated that the preparatory stage had concluded. “.. the test starts now .. as the final mocks get over and the production and audience takes over ..,” he noted. Referring to the season’s promotional line, he added: “Aur is baar jaisa ki hum apne promo mein kehte hain, jara sochna padega!!” (And this time, as we have been saying in our promos, you’ll have to think a little harder — “Sochna Padega”).
Bachchan is scheduled to begin shooting for the 18th edition of the quiz show on 1 August. He returns as host, a role he has held for every season except the third, which was presented by Shah Rukh Khan.
Kaun Banega Crorepati is the Hindi adaptation of the international Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? format. Contestants answer multiple-choice questions and may use lifelines when uncertain. The new season is set to premiere on 10 August on Sony Entertainment Television.
The blog post framed the transition from rehearsals to full production as the start of the substantive phase of the season, with the promotional emphasis on more challenging questions signalling a slightly raised difficulty level for participants.
