For fans following her career journey, the reveal adds a beautiful layer to what will now become her next major streaming release.
The Announcement That Set the Tone
Sharing the teaser of the show on social media, Aneet spoke openly about how meaningful the project has been for her.
"Presenting a little something I shot before Saiyaara. Hunkkaar has been a part of my journey for a while, and I'm glad to finally share it with you all. Nahi hoga insaaf ka intezaar, bas goonjegi sachhai ki Hunkkaar. Hotstar Specials: Hunkkaar – The Roar, streaming from 25th September, only on JioHotstar. Produced by Birla Studios and Applause Entertainment, in association with Purple Pebble Pictures, A Mangata Films Production," she wrote.
That warm, gratitude-tinged framing captured something important. This is a project that has clearly meant a lot to Aneet — one she has carried with her for a while, and one she is now finally able to share with audiences.
A Crime and Justice Drama
'Hunkkaar – The Roar' is being positioned as a crime and justice drama that places a woman's fight for truth at the centre of its storytelling. Aneet plays a young survivor seeking justice, while Fatima Sana Shaikh stars opposite her as a determined, no-nonsense police officer committed to investigating the case.
The show is being built around the emotional weight of survivor experience, the institutional complexities of pursuing justice, and the moral courage required to speak truth to power. Themes that continue to resonate powerfully with audiences across India today.
Without giving too much of the plot away, the teaser signals a story anchored in serious craft — one that clearly aims to explore difficult territory with care and intent.
The Ensemble Cast
Beyond Aneet Padda and Fatima Sana Shaikh, 'Hunkkaar – The Roar' features a strong ensemble that adds significant weight to the project. The cast includes Ram Kapoor, Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub, Arjun Mathur and Zoya Hussain — all actors known for the depth, restraint and craft they bring to their performances.
That kind of casting suggests the show has been built with genuine ambition. Each of these actors brings a distinct screen presence, and their combined participation signals a production that has been carefully assembled around performance quality.
The Creative Team
'Hunkkaar – The Roar' is produced by Birla Studios and Applause Entertainment, in association with Purple Pebble Pictures, A Mangata Films Production. The series is created by Karan D Kapadia and Nitya Mehra, and directed by Karan D Kapadia, Nitya Mehra and Heeraz Marfatia.
That combination of producers and directors reflects the level of institutional and creative backing behind the show — an ambition to deliver a streaming drama that is both thematically serious and executed with high production values.
Aneet's Career Journey So Far
For those who have only recently discovered Aneet through 'Saiyaara', it's worth noting just how thoughtfully she has built her acting career over the past few years.
Aneet Padda made her acting debut with a brief appearance in the 2022 film 'Salaam Venky', which also featured Kajol. Her first major acting opportunity came with the Amazon Prime Video series 'Big Girls Don't Cry', which premiered in 2024. She then appeared in the television show 'Yuva Sapno Ka Safar' the following year.
However, it was Mohit Suri's 2025 romantic drama 'Saiyaara' that proved to be a defining turning point in her career — introducing her to a much wider audience and establishing her as one of the most exciting young actresses of her generation.
Now, with 'Hunkkaar – The Roar' releasing on September 25, audiences will get to see a very different, more intense side of her acting range — a range she developed even before her breakthrough moment.
The Interesting Filming Timeline
There is something creatively meaningful about the fact that 'Hunkkaar' was shot before 'Saiyaara'. It means that audiences will now get to see a performance she delivered before she had achieved widespread recognition — before the pressure, before the expectations, before the industry-wide attention.
That kind of pre-fame performance often carries a particular kind of honesty. It reflects an artist working purely from craft, unshaped by external expectations. And it will be genuinely interesting to see how Aneet's work in 'Hunkkaar' sits alongside her post-'Saiyaara' filmography.
Why It Matters
For streaming audiences, 'Hunkkaar – The Roar' arrives as one of the more anticipated Hindi original releases of September. Its combination of a socially relevant subject, a strong cast, a serious creative team and multiple experienced producers makes it exactly the kind of project that streaming platforms are increasingly leaning into.
For Aneet Padda specifically, the release represents an important next step. Following the immense buzz around 'Saiyaara', audiences will now watch her take on a very different kind of role — one that will further demonstrate her range and depth as a performer.
Industry Impact
For the Indian streaming ecosystem, projects like 'Hunkkaar' contribute to a growing body of work that centres on socially resonant themes without compromising on production quality or emotional depth. Applause Entertainment, one of the co-producers, has been consistently associated with well-crafted, thoughtful Hindi originals over the years, and the combination with Birla Studios and Purple Pebble Pictures further strengthens the project's institutional backing.
For streaming platforms, such shows continue to serve as important anchors of critical prestige alongside the wider slate of entertainment-driven titles.
Cultural Impact
Shows that engage seriously with themes of survivor experience, institutional accountability and the pursuit of justice carry the potential to influence public conversation in meaningful ways. When they are made with care, backed by serious creative teams, and led by performers committed to bringing depth to their roles, they can add real value to how society thinks and talks about difficult subjects.
'Hunkkaar – The Roar' appears to be aiming for exactly that space.
The Bigger Picture
Aneet Padda's reveal that 'Hunkkaar – The Roar' was shot before 'Saiyaara' is more than a filming timeline detail. It offers a beautiful window into the creative journey of a young actress who has clearly been putting in the work well before wider recognition arrived.
For fans, September 25 now becomes an important date. It marks the release of a show that promises serious craft, a compelling ensemble cast, and a performance from Aneet that predates her breakthrough moment — offering audiences a chance to see the version of her that quietly built the foundation her current success now stands on.
As 'Hunkkaar – The Roar' prepares to stream on JioHotstar, all eyes will be on how the show is received. But regardless of the reception, one thing is already clear — Aneet Padda continues to shape her career with intention, craft, and a willingness to take on challenging material. And that, more than any single release, is what will define her creative journey in the years ahead.
