‘I don’t want that pressure anymore’: Filmmaker Pulkit on avoiding theatrical releases
Pulkit on Maalik Movie: Filmmaker Pulkit recently revealed that he wasn't happy with Rajkummar Rao's film "Maalik." Find out why.
Filmmaker Pulkit is in the spotlight due to his latest production, “Kartavya.” During an interview, Pulkit spoke about the reasons for choosing OTT for the release of his movies rather than the theater.
He mentioned that when a movie comes up for theatrical release, there is immense pressure involved. As an illustration, he cited his previous production “Maalik,” which he had not felt entirely satisfied with since pressure did not suit him well then.
He said, "There's a lot of pressure on filmmakers in the theater world. During 'Maalik,' I wasn't happy with the film because I couldn't deliver a good job under pressure." So I don't want to take on that pressure anymore.
It's worth noting that 'Maalik' stars Manushi Chillar, Rajkummar Rao, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Anshuman Pushkar, Swanand Kirkire, Saurabh Sachdeva, and Saurabh Shukla in key roles.
The film is set in 1980s Allahabad (now Prayagraj), where Deepak, a farmer's son, gradually becomes a gangster. The film depicts his story of hard work, pain, and power.
The film was directed by Pulkit and marked his theatrical release. It was produced by Kumar Taurani under Tips Films and Jay Shewakramani of Northern Lights Films.
Pulkit's next film, Kartavya, will be released on Netflix on May 15th, starring Saif Ali Khan in the lead role.
