Sanjeeda took to Instagram to share a string of images of herself in character from the film. Alongside the visuals, she offered fans a personal note thanking them for the warm response and hinting clearly at what audiences can expect from her going forward.
"As an actor the most enjoyable part of the job is doing characters that challenge or shock you. TOXIC allowed me to play an unimaginable role that feels very far from my reality and probably why I thoroughly enjoyed it," she wrote.
She continued, "Going in with absolutely no expectations, I am pleasantly surprised by the heartwarming response to my short appearance in the film, a big big thank you to everyone for supporting me in my journey. I promise to keep taking up roles that will keep shocking everyone. #toxic."
That final line — the promise to keep taking on shocking roles — reads almost like a statement of creative intent. For an actress who has spent years quietly building an unusually versatile career, it's a signal that the next chapter is going to be even bolder than the last.
About 'Toxic': A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups
'Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups' is a gangster film that has already generated significant industry buzz. It stars Yash in a dual role, alongside Kiara, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth. That kind of ensemble alone signals the film's ambition — bringing together some of the most powerful female performers across Indian cinema.
Reportedly budgeted at Rs 500-1,000 crore, 'Toxic' is being positioned as one of the most expensive Indian films ever made — a scale that reflects both Yash's post-KGF stature and the film's cross-industry, cross-language ambition.
The Story Behind 'Toxic'
The film explores the life of Raya, a violent gangster and playboy who rises to power in underworld crime before his eventual downfall. Years later, he is forced to face his biological son Rumi, also known as Ticket, who has spent his life preparing his revenge on Raya — the father who abandoned him and his mother.
It's a gritty, emotionally complex premise that carries clear echoes of iconic global gangster storytelling, but built for an Indian pan-industry canvas. And it's a story that clearly demands its supporting cast to bring specific, memorable, unusual character choices — which is where Sanjeeda's role fits in perfectly.
Sanjeeda's Distinctive Career Arc
For those who have followed her career, Sanjeeda's journey has never followed the conventional Bollywood template. She made her television debut as Namrata Mathuria in 'Kyaa Hoga Nimmo Kaa', followed by Ayesha Shergill in 'Kayamath'. But it was her performances in dual-role narratives that truly established her as one of the most watchable talents on Indian screens — most memorably in the crime drama 'Ek Hasina Thi' and 'Love Ka Hai Intezaar'.
Since then, she has continued to build a body of work that quietly resists categorisation, taking on projects like the thriller drama 'Taish', the aerial actioner 'Fighter' and the acclaimed period series 'Heeramandi'. Each of these choices has expanded her canvas — from crime thriller to war-action to lavish period drama — and now, into a Yash-led gangster epic of pan-Indian scale.
Why It Matters
Sanjeeda's approach to selecting roles represents something increasingly valuable in modern Indian cinema — the willingness of established actors to accept smaller but transformative parts in bigger films rather than defaulting to safer, more visible options. When an actress with a proven television legacy and a growing film footprint chooses to play a striking, "unimaginable" role in an ensemble like 'Toxic', it says something meaningful about her creative priorities. She isn't chasing screen time. She is chasing character.
That distinction is exactly what elevates a career from steady to memorable.
Cultural Impact
The audience's reception to Sanjeeda in 'Toxic' also reflects a broader shift in how mainstream cinema audiences are engaging with performances. Fans are increasingly attentive to standout supporting turns, and social media has amplified their ability to celebrate specific scenes, character choices and moments — often independent of the marketing campaign built around the film's lead stars. When an actress delivers something distinctive, viewers now find it, share it and celebrate it in real time.
Industry Impact
For casting directors, filmmakers and producers watching 'Toxic' unfold, Sanjeeda's ability to make such an impact with a short role is exactly the kind of performance that opens doors. Directors looking to cast complex, morally layered women characters — particularly in genre cinema — will almost certainly be paying attention to her upcoming choices.
The Bigger Picture
Sanjeeda Shaikh's note about 'Toxic' isn't just a thank-you post. It is a quiet declaration of the kind of actress she wants to keep becoming — one who plays characters that shock, unsettle and surprise, rather than characters that flatter or reassure. As 'Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups' continues to command attention across Indian cinema, her brief but memorable presence in the film adds one more chapter to a career that keeps refusing to sit inside any single box. And with Sanjeeda openly promising to keep shocking audiences, the truth is simple — the next role she takes on is one worth watching very, very closely.
