Director Nag Ashwin is at the center of attention these days, thanks to the success of his science fiction movie 'Kalki 2898 AD'. Now, he recently opened up about the emotionally tough moments of his initial days being a storyteller. Talking to a group of film students, the director revealed how let down he was when he watched the movie trailer of Christopher Nolan's movie 'Inception'.

Nag Ashwin said that in 2008 he was working on a concept that was somewhat similar to 'Inception', except that his story did not revolve around dreams but around thoughts. He recalled, 'I had come up with a concept that was strangely similar but I was devastated when I saw the trailer of Inception. Nolan had made it. His version was focused on dreams, mine on thoughts. Yet it was too close for comfort.'

He further explained that the moment of creative heartbreak took a toll on his mental health. He reportedly confessed, 'I quit the project and was depressed for a week.' 'Inception' is the story of Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio), a skilled thief who specializes in stealing secrets from people's subconscious minds during dreams. He is given a chance that his criminal record will be wiped out if he is able to successfully execute 'Inception'.

After the immense success of 'Kalki 2898 AD', Nag Ashwin is now preparing for its sequel, which is set to hit the floors this December. Meanwhile, there are strong buzz about a possible female-led project with Alia Bhatt. However, official confirmation is still awaited.
