People provoked Shahrukh against Ganguly, Dada replied; was unhappy with this decision of KKR

When the Indian Premier League began in 2008, Kolkata Knight Riders' owner Shah Rukh Khan gave the command of the side to India's most successful captain Sourav Ganguly. But the performance of the side was extremely poor during the initial three seasons, after which Sourav Ganguly was stripped of the captainship and he was also released from the side later on. During an interview for his autobiography 'A Century is Not Enough: My Roller-Coaster Ride to Success', Sourav Ganguly talked about his time with Shah Rukh in KKR and gave his views regarding the gossip about someone having fed Shah Rukh's ear against me.

Recalling the time of his departure from KKR in IPL, Dada told that before the start of IPL 4, there was speculation about his future with KKR and soon the team's CEO Venky Mysore told him that they would not keep him as a player and offered him services as a mentor. However, Ganguly believed that he still had more game left in him. He thought whether he should call Shahrukh and talk to him directly, however, he stopped himself. Recalling his old friendship with Shahrukh, Ganguly wrote in his autobiography that I knew Shahrukh for a long time and enjoyed friendship with him. But it was no rocket science to guess that he would have approved this offer.

Talking about the third season of IPL, Sourav Ganguly said that I was in constant touch with Shahrukh and in the third season, I took his opinion more than once while deciding the final eleven. Something that I had never done while selecting the Indian eleven. But as I said, the IPL was managed and played in a completely different way. Ganguly admitted that the team's decision to remove him from captaincy was completely correct. However, he believes that it was wrong to keep him out as a batsman.

In his autobiography, Ganguly said that I was also asked many times whether someone had instigated Shahrukh against me. My answer has always been the same that I don't think so. There was a theory going around that the KKR management was upset with my chest-thumping in a particular match against the Deccan Chargers at Eden Gardens.
