Audiences are eagerly awaiting the release of the film "O Romeo" featuring Shahid Kapoor. At the same time, a lawsuit has been filed against its release. The gangster Hussain Ustra's daughter, Sanobar Shaikh, has moved the court to stop the film's release.

According to news agency PTI, gangster Hussain Ustra's daughter filed a petition in the Mumbai Civil Court on Monday seeking a stay on the release of the Hindi film "O Romeo." She claims the film is a biopic made without her permission and portrays her late father's life in a false light. Ustra's daughter has filed a lawsuit against producer Sajid Nadiadwala and director Vishal Bhardwaj, seeking a stay on the film's release.

Sanobar Shaikh, daughter of Hussain Shaikh (known as Hussain Ustra), has filed a civil court case against the film's producer Sajid Nadiadwala, director Vishal Bhardwaj, and journalist-author Hussain Zaidi. The case will be heard on February 6th. Actor Shahid Kapoor plays Ustra in the film "O Romeo." The film is based on Zaidi's book "Mafia Queens of Mumbai."

This action thriller is scheduled to release in theaters on February 13, 2026. Ahead of its release, Sanober Shaikh's lawsuit claims that Nadiadwala and Bhardwaj are involved in the production and direction of a film based on her late father's biography. The lawsuit, filed through lawyer D.V. Saroj, alleges that the film "O Romeo" was being made for commercial and financial gain, and that the plaintiff (Sanobar Shaikh) was not granted prior consent. Sanobar Shaikh stated that the film's story is loosely based on his father, who is portrayed as a gangster.

The lawsuit contends that the release of the film, which portrays him as a gangster, would severely impact the plaintiff's family. In response to legal notices sent before the lawsuit, defendants Bhardwaj (director) and Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment (Sajid Nadiadwala's production house) rejected his claims, stating that the film "O Romeo" is a complete work of fiction. Sanobar Shaikh has requested the court to issue a permanent injunction preventing the film from being released in theaters, on television channels, or on any OTT platform on or after February 13th.
