Vinod Kapri’s ‘Pyre’ to Premiere Across Three Major US Film Festivals in September After Global Awards Run

The film 'Pyre' directed by Vinod Kapri has made its presence felt in many foreign film festivals. The world tour of this film is going on. After winning the Best Film Award in many countries, the Indian film 'Pyre' will premiere in Washington DC, Boston and Chicago in America in September. America's prestigious Washington DC South Asian Film Festival will conclude on September 7 with the screening of the film Pyre, directed by National Award winning filmmaker Vinod Kapri.
After this, 'Pyre' has also been selected as the closing film of the eighth India International Film Festival of Boston on September 14. Then this film will be shown on September 21 in America's popular 16th Chicago South Asian Film Festival. 'Pyre' is the first Indian film to be screened at three major US film festivals in a month.
In July, Pyre won the Band Jury Best Feature Film Award and the German Star of India Award at the 2025 Indian Film Festival held in Stuttgart, Germany. The film also won four Best Film Awards in Spain and the UK. In just one month, 'Pyre' received five international awards, including three Best Film Audience Awards.
The film 'Pyre' is the story of an elderly couple, Padam and Tulsi, whose village in the remote Himalayas is becoming increasingly deserted due to migration. This leaves the couple in a dilemma as to who will perform their last rites? Their world changes dramatically when they receive a letter from their estranged son after 30 years, which fills them with new hope and a desire to move forward. 'Pyre' features non-professional actors from the Himalayas.
