The makers of Anjali Arora and Dev Sharma's upcoming mythological drama Mahakavya Shri Ramayan Katha unveiled the second track, "Ram Ji Ki Sena," on Saturday.

Dev Sharma, who plays Lord Shri Ram in the film, said of the song: "'Ram Ji Ki Sena' is about the faith and collective strength with which Ram Ji's entire vanar sena moves forward to restore dharma over adharma. That unity, courage and sense of purpose make this chapter incredibly powerful."

Nirbhay Wadhwa, who plays Lord Hanuman, added: "For Hanuman ji, devotion to Shri Ram is his strength and his purpose. 'Ram Ji Ki Sena' carries that bhakti along with tremendous energy and determination."

The Hindi version of the song has been sung by Farhad Bhiwandiwala, while the Chhattisgarhi version is sung by Sunil Soni. The tunes have been scored by Ashish Donald along with Dev Chauhaan, with lyrics by Jaidev Jonwal. Himanshu Rawat served as Assistant Composer, and the track was mixed and mastered by Deepak Poojary in collaboration with Chayan Dey. Hemanshu Kumaar choreographed the number.

On the Hindi rendition, Farhad Bhiwandiwala said: "The song has a very powerful energy from the moment it begins. There is devotion, but also a constant sense of movement and determination. As a singer, the idea was to retain the bhakti while giving the song the strength and scale that 'Ram Ji Ki Sena' demands."

Sunil Soni, who sang the Chhattisgarhi version, said: "Bringing a song like 'Ram Ji Ki Sena' into Chhattisgarhi is very special because the emotion has to remain equally powerful and natural in the language. I wanted the Chhattisgarhi rendition to have its own identity while preserving the spirit and energy of the composition."

Context around the film: Directed by Abhishek Singh and produced under Mahobiya Film Production, Mahakavya Shri Ramayan Katha marks content creator Anjali Arora's big-screen debut in the role of Sita — a casting choice that drew considerable social media debate after it was first announced in August, with reactions ranging from criticism over her association with viral internet fame (she rose to prominence through a dance video and a stint on the reality show Lock Upp) to support from those who felt the backlash was overblown. Arora has previously described the role as "one of the most emotional and responsible journeys" of her career.

The film's Hindi and Chhattisgarhi release on September 25 also places it just weeks ahead of another major Ramayana adaptation — Nitesh Tiwari's big-budget version starring Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi — expected around this year's Diwali season, making September something of a preview window for two competing big-screen takes on the epic.
