Zoya Akhtar, a producer-director, believes that romantic movies have the potential to make a comeback as a popular genre in the Indian film industry. According to her, the trend of storytelling comes in a circle. This means that a particular genre may get saturated, and later on, people will start to enjoy it. Therefore, romantic movies are set to make a comeback.
Zoya Akhtar participated in a scriptwriting workshop organized by Whistling Woods International along with the Screenwriters Association. During the workshop, she revealed her approach to writing scripts.
She said, "I don't work that way. I don't think, 'Now people are looking for this, so let me write this.' But if you look at the last 10-15 years, there has been a shift. Everything changes. If you look at it cyclically, maybe love stories will return."
Speaking about her upcoming projects, Zoya explained, "Shooting for our film 'Dahaar 2' is underway. Reema Kagti is directing it. I'm writing two scripts for myself. We've completed one for Reema. We're currently working on several scripts with other directors to develop and produce them."
During the conversation, Zoya Akhtar was asked about the ongoing discussions regarding a sequel to her superhit film, 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.' She avoided commenting, saying that any official information would be released only at the right time.
There's nothing to announce at this time, and if a sequel ever happens, it will be publicly announced. I'll make that announcement.
