The Malayalam cinema industry is once again at the receiving end of heated discussions and debates. This time around, the topic of discussion and debate is not the plot of any particular movie and its box office collection but the social responsibility and stance that established faces of the cinema industry take. Dubbing actress and social activist Bhagyalakshmi has come out openly against superstar Mohanlal. The reason for that is the latest movie poster that was shared by Mohanlal on social networking sites.

In fact, a video of a song from the upcoming film "Bha Bha Ba" has recently surfaced, featuring Mohanlal and actor Dileep together. Dileep's name has been linked to the infamous 2017 actress harassment case that shook Kerala. After a lengthy trial, the court granted Dileep relief due to lack of evidence, but the decision still leaves uncomfortable questions for a large section of society.

Dubbing artist Bhagyalakshmi offered her opinion on the matter. She said that public support from an influential artist after such sensitive cases is not just a promotion but also a message. She stated clearly that people expect not just acting but also understanding and sensitivity from a veteran actor like Mohanlal. According to her, taking such action immediately after a controversial verdict is tantamount to ignoring the pain of the victims. Speaking at the International Film Festival of Kerala, Bhagyalakshmi questioned whether such a prominent artist even considered the impact her actions would have on society. She said that when powerful people openly support someone, it's not just an individual's decision, but reflects the mindset of the entire system.

Bhagyalakshmi viewed this entire issue as morally based, not limited to the law. According to her, this battle is fought not just in the courts but also in the eyes of society. She recalled the struggle of the woman who endured years of mental and emotional torture during the investigation and trial. She said the victim had to repeatedly prove her pain, while the accused did not face such pressure. She also said that the celebratory atmosphere created after the verdict was extremely disturbing. According to Bhagyalakshmi, victims are expected to appear sad all the time so that their words will be believed, whereas the behavior of powerful people is not questioned.

The Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court acquitted Malayalam film star Dileep of all charges in the 2017 high-profile kidnapping and assault case of a female actress. The court said there was no concrete evidence to support Dileep's role in the case and he was acquitted.
