Mohan Kapur raised several questions about the success of Dhurandhar and its response from the audience. According to him, he does not support the positive feedback for the movie. From his personal viewing experience, the script is outstanding, and the narration is great.
In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, he said, "I saw the second part of the film alone in a theater two weeks before its release. It was the first time I'd seen a film alone, and when I left the theater, I honestly couldn't understand why everyone was praising it so much."
Further in the interview, Mohan Kapur said, "The story of 'Dhurandhar' is very intelligently written. It feels like it's true. But nowhere does it claim to be true. This is why it's facing both praise and criticism. The story, inspired by real events, is well-woven so that everyone feels it's completely authentic."
Mohan further said, "From the very first scene, the moment you see R. Madhavan, you know the underlying premise is flawed, because the character he's portraying or alluding to never existed."
Not only in India, Dhurandhar 2 has also earned a lot in foreign theaters. Its worldwide box office collection was also impressive. According to a report by SACNILC, the film has grossed ₹1779.02 crore worldwide. With this, the film has collected approximately ₹1,143.94 crore in India as of its 56th day.
