Pooja Bhatt Opens Up About Mahesh Bhatt's Spiritual Journey and the Fallout of Leaving Osho
Pooja Bhatt: Actress Pooja Bhatt has shared a shocking story about her family. Find out what she had to say.
According to Pooja Bhatt, there was a need for the family to relocate to a safe house in Pune because her father decided to leave Osho (Rajneesh).
She mentioned the episode while appearing on a podcast hosted by Cyrus Sage, where she revealed that her father had been a devoted follower of Osho but ultimately left him.
She said, "My father was part of the Rajneesh cult. He took off his rosary from his neck and flushed it down the toilet. After this, he was banned. He became a kind of 'outlaw.'"
Pooja further explained, "I remember my mother receiving a message from Vinod Khanna: 'God is very angry.' God will destroy Mahesh. I was young at the time, and we were taken to a safe house in Pune at midnight.
Mahesh Bhatt has previously spoken openly about his spiritual journey. He explained that he was searching for answers after the failure of his early films.
In an interview, he said that he had reached a "spiritual supermarket." He said, "I went to Osho Rajneesh, a charismatic guru from Pune. I devoted myself completely to him... I wore saffron clothes and meditated five times a day."
But later, he realized that what he was feeling inside wasn't what he was showing on the outside. He said, "I felt that I still felt jealous, but I was speaking holy words... I started feeling like a hypocrite. I couldn't lie to the world or myself."
Mahesh Bhatt explained that this was why he threw away the rosary. He told his friend Vinod Khanna, "This is all useless, I'm a fool."
While Mahesh Bhatt abandoned this path, Vinod Khanna continued to associate with Osho and later even moved to his ashram in Oregon.
