Cyber Fraudsters Target Actor Gajendra Chauhan; Mumbai Police Save ₹98,000

Gajendra Chauhan, known for his role as Yudhishthira in the TV series ‘Mahabharata’, is dominating headlines lately as a victim of cyber fraud. Frauds duped one lakh rupees out of him. But the police reacted quickly and recovered his money, said an official on Saturday.
According to an officer from the Oshiwara police station, they froze the defrauded amount and successfully transferred it back to the actor's account. He said Chauhan recently visited the police station to thank the staff for their prompt action.
A police official explained that Chauhan had noticed an advertisement on Facebook for dry fruits at a discount rate. He had clicked on the link to make the purchase. An OTP had been sent to his mobile phone. Chauhan had placed the order as soon as the OTP was sent. His mobile phone had shown an immediate message claiming that the sum of ₹98,000 was debited from his account. Following this, the actor immediately went to the Oshiwara police station and filed a complaint.
The officer stated that the police checked his bank statement and located the account where the money had been sent. They immediately contacted the nodal officers of the respective banks and froze the transaction.
The officer stated that the money was later returned to the actor's account. Meanwhile, the police have registered a case and launched an investigation.
