‘Didn’t Want to Be Just Someone’s Wife’: Ameesha Patel on Marriage, Career, and Choices

Ameesha Patel received fame overnight star when she debuted in Bollywood with Hrithik Roshan in the film "Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai" in 2000. People were captivated by her innocence and beauty. Despite being a crush of the 2000s, she remains a virgin. The 50-year-old actress has not yet married. Ameesha Patel revealed in a recent interview why she has avoided marriage. She explained her perspective on marriage from the very beginning.

In Ranveer Allahabadia's podcast, Ameesha revealed that her first priority has always been her career. She wanted to establish her own identity before becoming someone's wife. According to the actress, "I never chased boys in school. They were the ones who did that. After that, I received many proposals, and I still do, but the men I met wanted me to stay home after marriage and not work. I didn't like this. I initially wanted to be Ameesha Patel because I had spent so much of my life as someone's daughter, and I didn't want to spend my adult life just being someone's wife."

The Gadar actress revealed that she was in a serious relationship before entering films, but it broke down for one reason. She said, "People who love you will allow your career to succeed. I've lost a lot for my career and a lot for love. I sacrificed one for the other, and I think I've learned from both. For example, I had a serious relationship before I entered the film industry."

The actress further explained, "He came from a prominent industrial family in South Mumbai, just like mine. We had similar backgrounds and education, and the family environment was similar. Everything was fine, but when I decided to enter the film industry, my partner didn't like being in the public eye, so I chose career over love."

Ameesha Patel says that today men half her age propose to her and she's even open to marrying younger men. She says, "I'm ready for marriage, if only I find the right person. They say 'where there's a will, there's a way', so whoever finds me, I'll jump at the chance; he'll be my life partner. I still get marriage proposals from many wealthy families. Even men half my age want to date me, and I'm open to that because a man should be mentally mature. I've met many men older than me, but their brains aren't even as big as a fly."
