Director General of Police's daughter caught smuggling gold, 14 kg gold also seized from South actress

Ranya Rao, a South Indian actress, has been taken into police custody on the charge of gold smuggling. The Police Housing Corporation's Director General of Police Ramachandra Rao is the actress's father. The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence officials arrested the actress last night from the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) under the charge of gold smuggling.

The actress was accused of carrying 14.8 kg of gold. The actress was presented to the judge last night, after which the actress was taken to judicial custody for 14 days. The directive was given by a judge of the special court of financial crimes. The actress was given a medical check-up at the Bowring Hospital before she was taken to judicial custody. According to the officials, the actress told them that she was going to Dubai to work.

The DRI found that she had traveled to Dubai four times in the last 15 days, after which the agency started monitoring her activities. Based on this intelligence, DRI officials reached the airport two hours before Ranya's arrival on March 3. She came from Dubai by Emirates flight and was detained at Bengaluru airport around 7 pm on Monday.
