Raksha Bandhan 2026 has wrapped up, and as always, Bollywood's celebrity families brought their own share of heartwarming moments to the festival of sibling love. Among the sweetest this year: a Rakhi sent by Priyanka Chopra's daughter, Malti Marie Chopra Jonas, to her young cousin brother, Neeraj - the son of actress Parineeti Chopra and Aam Aadmi Party MP Raghav Chadha.
Since Malti lives abroad with her parents, the Rakhi arrived via post, a small but symbolic gesture that carried the festival's spirit across borders and generations of the extended Chopra family.
Parineeti Chopra, who is Priyanka's first cousin, shared a glimpse of the Rakhi on her official Instagram story, penning a note on behalf of her infant son. "Thank you Malti Didi for my first Rakhi. Lots of love, Neeraj," she wrote. Priyanka, in turn, reshared the story with an equally affectionate caption: "Didi loves you so much, baby Neeraj." The exchange offered fans a rare, tender glimpse into the personal side of two of Bollywood's most prominent families staying connected despite geographical distance.
A Milestone For Both Cousins
The celebration held special significance on two counts. It marked the very first time Malti has taken part in the Raksha Bandhan festivities, being just old enough now to be an active participant in family traditions passed down through generations. For baby Neeraj, too, it was his debut Rakhi - Parineeti and Raghav Chadha's son was born on October 25, 2025, making this his first major Indian festival experience as an infant.
Why It Matters: Tradition Across Borders
The gesture struck a chord with fans not just for its sentimentality but for what it represents: a reminder that Indian festivals and family traditions continue to hold meaning even for children growing up outside India. Social media users were quick to praise Priyanka for ensuring her daughter stays connected to her Indian roots despite being raised largely in the United States, with many calling the moment a beautiful example of cultural continuity within a globally dispersed family.
The photo and accompanying captions were widely shared and liked across platforms, adding to the steady stream of glimpses fans have received into Malti's life, given that Priyanka has otherwise been notably protective of her daughter's privacy, rarely revealing her face in public photos.
The Chopra-Chadha Family Timeline
Parineeti Chopra and Raghav Chadha were married on September 24, 2023, in an intimate ceremony that drew wide media attention given Chadha's political profile. The couple welcomed their son, Neeraj, roughly two years later on October 25, 2025. With his first birthday approaching later this year, fans can likely expect another round of celebrations and family moments to be shared publicly, continuing the pattern of glimpses the Chopra-Jonas and Chopra-Chadha families have offered into their personal milestones.
The Bigger Picture
Beyond the celebrity gloss, this story reflects something universally relatable - the effort families make, however famous, to preserve cultural bonds across distance and generations. As India's film and public figures increasingly build lives that span continents, small gestures like a mailed Rakhi carry outsized emotional weight, offering fans a warm, personal counterpoint to the usual headlines about box office numbers and public appearances.
