Titanic Film Scene Inspired by Fang Lang: The popular film "Titanic" was loved by audiences worldwide. Its final scene was reportedly inspired by Fang Lang, a survivor.
Each scene of the blockbuster movie Titanic by James Cameron, produced way back in 1997, was highly appreciated by everyone. It is worth mentioning that this particular scene was inspired from the dying moments of Fang Lang's grandfather, who survived the Titanic disaster.
As Steven Fang, the grandson of Fang Lang, explains, "My grandfather, Fang Lang, was onboard the Titanic in 1912." When the accident occurred, he survived by clinging to a floating door as the ship sank. This scene, depicted in the Oscar-winning film "Titanic," became the inspiration for a scene in the film, starring Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio." Furthermore, Steven also said that filmmaker James Cameron acknowledged Fang Lang's influence on the scene.
Fang Lang's grandson, Steven Fang, described the moment as emotionally special. He said, "It's an incredible feeling to be a part of this legacy, this great story that everyone knows about. We feel incredibly humbled to have the opportunity to add to the story." According to Steven, his grandfather was one of the six passengers who survived the sinking of the Titanic, but he never spoke much about it. Fang Lang's story was later featured in the 2020 documentary "The Six."
The Titanic disaster is considered one of the world's most famous maritime disasters. On April 10, 1912, the ship departed England for New York. The film "Titanic," based on this disaster, was released in 1997. It grossed $2.2 billion worldwide and was also honored with 11 Oscars.
