Arpita took to her social media handle to share a beautiful video of the ritual — performing aarti for her brother, applying tilak on his forehead and then tying a rakhi around his wrist. The clip captured Bhaijaan in one of his softest public moods, letting the tradition play out with full sincerity.
For millions of fans who have watched Salman navigate red carpets, film sets and controversies over decades, seeing him quietly receive an aarti from his sister added a personal warmth to a public persona often defined by scale.
Salman at Alvira Khan's Home
Later in the day, the 'Tiger Zinda Hai' actor was spotted at the residence of his sister Alvira Khan, extending the family celebrations well into the afternoon. As he stepped out, he paused for the paparazzi waiting to catch a glimpse — and gave them exactly the moment they had come for.
Standing before the cameras, Salman flaunted the rakhis tied on his wrist by his sisters. His forehead carried the tilak — a small, symbolic detail that showed just how completely he had let himself be a part of the ritual rather than a celebrity performance of it.
The Cowboy-Hat Look
Sartorially, Salman kept the look breezy but signature. He was dressed in a maroon T-shirt paired with blue jeans and a cowboy hat, striking that easy, effortless balance between casual comfort and star presence. Just as he was about to step into his car, the shutterbugs urged him to show them the rakhis on his wrist once more. Salman obliged — with a smile that gave the moment its distinctly Bhaijaan charm.
Nirvaan Khan Joins the Family Gathering
The family gathering wasn't limited to Salman and Alvira. Sohail Khan's son, Nirvaan Khan, was also spotted by the paparazzi at Alvira's home. Multi-generational Khan family celebrations — especially on cultural festivals — have long been a hallmark of the clan, and Friday's Raksha Bandhan continued that tradition.
Understanding the Khan Sibling Bond
For those unfamiliar with the family dynamics, Alvira is a well-regarded fashion designer and film producer, associated with several noteworthy projects, and is married to actor and producer Atul Agnihotri. Arpita, meanwhile, has a story that has always made the Khan family's bond feel especially heartfelt. She is not Salman's biological sister — she was adopted by veteran screenwriter Salim Khan as a child. Today, she is married to actor Aayush Sharma. Yet within the Khan household, the bond between Salman and Arpita has consistently been one of the most publicly celebrated sibling relationships in Indian cinema.
All the Khan siblings, in fact, are known to share a strong bond — one that has weathered decades of public glare, personal turbulence and evolving family dynamics.
Why It Matters
At a time when celebrity culture often reduces family occasions to curated photo drops, moments like this hit differently. Arpita's video — with its unmistakably domestic warmth — and Salman's willingness to publicly wear the aftermath of a family ritual (tilak, multiple rakhis, contented smile) reminds fans that beneath the star scale, the Khans still centre their lives around their siblings, spouses, children and shared family rituals.
For a country where Raksha Bandhan is a deeply cultural moment, seeing one of its biggest superstars fully embrace the ritual — down to the tilak on his forehead — makes the festival feel more accessible and universal.
Cultural Impact
Salman has spent decades defining what Bollywood family branding looks like. His frequent appearances at sibling celebrations, his outspoken love for his siblings, and his willingness to make family occasions visible have created a template that many younger stars have since adopted. Friday's Raksha Bandhan is essentially another entry in that ongoing story.
Back to Work Very Soon
Even as the day was defined by family, Salman's professional slate remains packed. He will next be seen headlining the war drama 'Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace', previously titled 'Battle of Galwan'. Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film is a cinematic adaptation of the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese troops. Backed by Salman Khan Films, the movie will feature Chitrangda Singh as the female lead.
Adding to his very full 2026, Salman will also return as the host of the popular reality show 'Bigg Boss 20' — a role that has long become synonymous with his television presence.
The Bigger Picture
Salman Khan's Raksha Bandhan didn't play out through big statements or elaborate social media captions. It played out the way it does in most Indian homes — an aarti performed by a sister, a tilak carefully applied, a rakhi tied with love, and the ordinary joy of being at a sibling's home on a festival day. For a superstar whose every public appearance is designed to be an event, this was Salman at his softest, most familial and most relatable — a reminder that beneath the swag and stardom, Bhaijaan is, above all, a brother. And on Friday, Arpita's aarti said it all.
