A prayer meeting will be hosted tomorrow, 12 April Saturday in the evening at his Juhu Mumbai residence to honor the memory of late director Salim Akhtar. Salim Akhtar passed away on 8 April aged 82 years old. His funeral took place on 9 April. Salim Akhtar was a renowned Bollywood director.
Salim Akhtar passed away following an illness that had kept him hospitalized in Kokilaben Dhirubhai Hospital in Mumbai for the past few days. In his final moments, he was on a ventilator but could not be saved owing to his worsening condition.
Salim Akhtar is counted among the famous filmmakers of Bollywood. He has produced many films and launched actresses like Rani Mukherjee and Tamanna Bhatia through his films. He made many memorable films under the banner of his production house 'Aftab Pictures'. Rani Mukherjee's first film 'Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat', which came in 1997, was also produced by Salim Akhtar. Through this film, he gave Rani Mukherjee her first break in Bollywood. Apart from this, he gave a break to actress Rani Mukherjee in (1997). Apart from this, Salim Akhtar launched Bollywood diva Tamanna Bhatia through the film 'Chand Sa Roshan Chehra', which came in the year 2005.
Salim Akhtar was very active in the 90s. He produced many Bollywood films during this time. Some of his selected Bollywood films include ‘Doodh Ka Karz’, ‘Mehndi’, ‘Qayamat’, ‘Balidan’, ‘Izzat’, ‘Baazi’, ‘Loha’ and ‘Aadmi’.
