Hollywood rapper Soulja Boy arrested, accused of illegal possession of weapons; has been jailed before

America's renowned rapper and composer Soulja Boy was arrested on charges of possession of weapons while being checked at a traffic light in West Hollywood, Los Angeles. The arrest was made around 2:30 am on August 3, when police pulled over a vehicle at Melrose Avenue and Genesee Avenue intersections. Soulja Boy was in this vehicle along with a man and he was held for unlawful possession of weapons.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Soulja Boy is already a convicted felon, so it was illegal for him to have weapons. After the arrest, he was booked at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Los Angeles. It is not clear at the moment whether he has been released or he is still in custody.

This is not the first time Soulja Boy was arrested for weapon possession. In 2019 as well, he had more than three months in prison for firearm and ammunition possession. At that time, he was convicted for violating probation.

Soulja Boy's arrest has come at a time when he was recently embroiled in a serious legal dispute. In the last few months, a former assistant had accused him of physical assault, sexual harassment, gender-based violence, mental trauma and non-payment of salary. In this case, in April, a California jury ruled against Soulja Boy and awarded compensation of US $ 4 million to the victim.

Soulja Boy's lawyer Ricky Ivy had strongly criticized that decision. He had said that this is a case of misunderstanding and he would challenge this decision through appeal.
