Imran Abbas Criticises Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar’ Over Alleged Anti-Pakistan Narrative
Aditya Dhar's film "Dhurandhar" was released on December 5th and has grossed over ₹600 crore worldwide. However, Pakistani actor Imran Abbas has strongly criticized the film. He called it a hate-mongering against Pakistan, its religion, and its identity, and questioned why Pakistanis are promoting a film that insults their country.
The movie, "Dhurandhar" by Aditya Dhar, is in theaters now, and it was released on December 5th. There have been numerous talks about this movie on social platforms, and it is making headlines simultaneously for its performance in the market and globally. It has raked in over ₹600 crores.
The movie features Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal in major roles. Apart from Arjun, Sara Arjun appears in Ranveer's love life. However, this movie is also meeting with strong protests in Pakistan. A Pakistani actor, Imran Abbas, reacted against the producers on Instagram posting a long note on Wednesday. He said that movies are now used as a weapon of hatred and ill Will.
Actor Imran Abbas said, "A film has been released in India, and worldwide, this film is openly setting a narrative against Pakistan, our country, our religion, and our identity. Not only is the film shameful, but the fact that people in Pakistan, members of our society, are glorifying it, creating Reels, AI images, and videos based on it, praising the characters and actors, and proudly promoting it."
He further said, "Yes, the film may be well-made. The quality may be good. But since when have these things replaced self-respect?" Do any of us still need to promote hate films, films that are against any country, nation, or religion?
If a similar film were made in Pakistan against India, the entire Indian society would have rejected it without hesitation, which would be completely justified and correct. Yet we applaud a film that slaps us in the face and calls it entertainment. This is not open-mindedness, but shamelessness, an abrogation of dignity and self-respect, and this time it's proven that it has nothing to do with education either, because I've actually seen so-called educated people do this, as well as ignorant and illiterate people.
