Esha Deol Returns To Her Comedy Roots With "Malamaal Weekly 2"
Esha Deol: Esha Deol is once again returning to the comedy genre. The actress says she has been wanting to do a light-hearted and fun film for a long time. Find out which film Esha will be seen in.
Esha Deol is heading back to the genre that first made her a household name in comic entertainment - comedy. The actress has officially signed on for "Malamaal Weekly 2," the much-anticipated sequel to the popular ensemble comedy franchise, marking her return to lighthearted, laugh-out-loud cinema after a stretch of far more tonally intense projects.
Why This Film, Why Now
Speaking about her decision to join the project, Esha made it clear the timing couldn't have been better. "This is exactly what I needed right now - something fun, lighthearted, and full of laughter," she said. The actress had just wrapped two dramatically different films: the horror-comedy "Ghunghat" and the Telugu film "SYG," both of which called for a very different creative register than the broad, ensemble comedy she is now stepping into. "After that, I wanted to do a full-fledged comic caper, and 'Malamaal Weekly 2' came to me at the right time," she added.
Comedy: A Genre Close To Her Heart
Esha has a long-standing history with comedy, having earned strong recognition for her performances in films like "No Entry," "Shaadi No. 1," and "One Two Three" - a run that established her as a reliable presence in Bollywood's mid-2000s comedy boom. Reflecting on that legacy, she said comedy has always been "a space I've always loved and wanted to return to," adding that the "Malamaal Weekly 2" script is what ultimately convinced her to sign on. "The script is very funny, and I really think everyone will enjoy it. I am very happy to be a part of a film that is full of fun, laughter, and entertainment," she said.
