The film 'Chandni Bar' was released in 2001 under the direction of Madhur Bhandarkar. Nearly 25 years later, producer Sandip Singh recently announced Chandni Bar Returns, which excited fans. Now, a controversy has arisen regarding the film's title. The Indian Motion Picture Producers' Association (IMPPA) has issued a notice to producer Sandip Singh for using the title 'Chandni Bar' without permission and approval.
According to the complaint received, the IMPPA has written a letter to producer Sandip Singh. It stated, "This is to inform you that we have received a complaint from our member, Mr. Madhur Bhandarkar of M/s. Bhandarkar Entertainment, stating that your company is using their registered title "Chandni Bar" for a sequel titled "Chandni Bar Returns" without obtaining their consent."
The letter further stated, "Please note that the title 'Chandni Bar' is the registered property of M/s. Bhandarkar Entertainment. Any use of this title in any form or medium without their prior written consent will be considered unauthorized use and will be subject to appropriate action. Therefore, you are advised to discontinue use of the said title in any format with immediate effect."
The film "Chandni Bar" depicts the harsh life of the Mumbai underworld, including prostitution, dance bars, and gun crime. Released in 2001, the film starred Tabu and Atul Kulkarni in lead roles. Apart from these, Ananya Khare, Rajpal Yadav, Meenakshi Sahani, and Vishal Thakkar also played supporting roles in the film.
